How C1 Advanced is scored

Each of the five papers – Reading, Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking – gets its own score on the Cambridge English Scale. Your overall score is the average of the five, and each paper counts the same (20%). The Reading and Use of English paper is one exam paper, but its parts are counted separately: Reading is Parts 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and Use of English is Parts 2, 3 and 4.

Overall scoreResult
200–210Grade A – you also get a C2 certificate
193–199Grade B – pass at C1
180–192Grade C – pass at C1
160–179Level B2 – no C1 Advanced pass, but a B2 certificate
Below 160No certificate

You can pass even if one paper is weaker: a high score in another paper makes up for it, because only the average counts.
